About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood, Anthony & Son Panini Shoppe is a beloved sandwich shop and Italian restaurant that delivers an authentic New York deli experience with a distinctive Italian flair. Whether you're craving a hearty hero, a perfectly pressed panini, or a fresh salad, this spot serves up an expansive menu that celebrates bold flavors, quality ingredients, and generous portions.

From the moment you step inside, Anthony & Son envelops you with the irresistible aromas of toasted bread, melted cheeses, and savory cured meats. Their signature Godfather Sandwich stands as a testament to their mastery—layer upon layer of Italian cold cuts, sharp provolone, and zesty toppings that create a mouthwatering symphony in every bite. Equally popular is the FDNY Sandwich, a vodka sauce chicken cutlet hero crowned with gooey mozzarella, offering a taste that’s rich and comforting. Other standout items include the Anthony and Son Panini, the crispy yet tender Eggplant Parm, and the hearty Chicken Cutlet Sandwich.

For those who appreciate lighter fare or want to balance their meal, the shop’s vibrant selection of side salads is a delight. The Caprese Salad, with its fresh mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, and fragrant basil drizzled in olive oil, transports you straight to Italy, while the robust Kale Salad packs in an invigorating mix of kale, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, and chickpeas. And if you crave something nostalgic, their various grilled cheeses—from the spicy Grilled Cheese Jalapeño to the savory Jack Grilled Cheese—are guaranteed to warm your soul.

Customers frequently rave about the genuinely hospitable service and lively atmosphere. Many reviews highlight the warm presence of the owner, often behind the register, adding a personal touch that's as satisfying as the food itself. Dining here is a casual yet comforting experience, with quick service catering to both takeout customers and those lucky enough to snag a spot at the limited outdoor seating. The buzz of conversation, the scent of fresh-baked bread, and the sight of colorful sandwiches arriving at tables create an inviting energy that’s quintessentially Brooklyn.

Several patrons mention how the bread stands out—fresh, perfectly crusty, and the kind of foundation that lifts every sandwich to excellence. While some have expressed a desire to sample more to fully grasp the scope of flavors, overall, the consensus is clear: Anthony & Son Panini Shoppe offers solid, satisfying sandwiches that satisfy both locals and visitors. The generous portions mean your meal can often last for two, stretching your dollar and delighting your palate.

Whether you’re a sandwich connoisseur yearning for a classic NYC sub with an Italian punch or simply in need of a quick, flavorful takeout meal with a homey vibe, Anthony & Son Panini Shoppe delivers with heart and savory precision. Prepare to be warmly welcomed and leave with a full belly and a newfound favorite spot in Brooklyn’s culinary landscape.

Exactly what you want out of a classic nyc sandwich shop- huge menu, delicious warm and cold cuts, and the owner of the shop at the register most days. I have been several times but on this visit I got the butch. Great flavor but I will say I wish I stuck to the godfather. It’s what they are known for and it’s hard to beat. Quick service and limited seating outside if you cannot resist the temptation of tearing into your sandwich right away.

I loved this place. I was treated well. I walked in and ordered a latte and paisano hero. The cashier told me that it was the same price for a roll, hero or white bread. I just got it how it normally comes and told them spicy. It tasted great. The latte was legit, excellent tasting. The female working there made it for me. The place is out of my way plus I have to feed the meter, so I know I won't be coming that often. It is definitely worth a try, though. I like that they sell many different types of ravioli in the back in the freezer (among them crab and lobster).

Had this place on my bucket list for a long time. Happy I finally got here, and what an awesome experience. I got a bunch of sandwiches for myself and my family. They were awesome!!! My wife got the FDNY, I got my mother the Anthony & Daughter and added beaded eggplant, I took home the Soza and split the Almost Perfect with my friend!!!! Everyone loved what they ate. Sampled some their's and let them try mine. The Almost Perfect was actually PERFECT!! It was such a unique sandwich that was on an amazing semolina hero. Can't wait to go back!!!!!

Got the FDNY, the vodka sauce chicken cutlet sandwich with mozzarella. It was good but felt a bit dry, had to pay for an extra vodka sauce which feels a bit much considering the sandwich is already $20. Either way it was good sandwich which could last 2 meals.

After seeing this place for months on my IG feed, I decided to pop in while I was in Brooklyn to try the Matt & Steve 2.0 and The Paisano. Both sandwiches did not disappoint. The service was quick and and they also have a lot of pre-made dessert options as well. There's a couple of picnic tables outside on the side of the building but other than that, there's not much else regarding seating.

Just stopped in this spot for some lunch, thank goodness I did. The Tuscan delight sub was amazing, literally hit the spot just with half. I'm super glad I walked into this spot. I'll definitely come back if I'm the area.

My favorite bodega in all of Brooklyn. Anthony is such a great guy, full of verve and spirit and a genuinely down to earth man. The outside of the place is fantastic with seating arrangements as you can see for a casual time out in town with some friends on a hot summer day. The graffiti is a one of kind painted by a few local artists which by the artwork were commended for their dedication and performance in creating such a masterpiece. The pricing on the food could take a bit lowering but everything else is top notch. Quality of the food is expected of any regular deli establishment in NY but to their end they put a twist to the menu as in adding an actual menu with specific and select options. Tons of celebrities have perused this place over the years which you can see on the plaque pillar in the back of the store. They also give away free magazines, merchandise such as stickers, stamps and collectibles and earlier today free samples of salami/baloney with cheese on a stick which was pretty delectable. They chose an awesome spot to continue service because this street is filled with all kinds of wild and exotic entertainment happening almost everyday. There is usually an event happening somewhere on this street and that’s what I love about this place in particular. You can make your own sandwich combinations, they have a wide selection of drinks to choose and since it is a deli you also get access to chips, treats, candies heck whatever you can think of right here is this local spot.
